MONTESSORI TODDLER TEACHER 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • AMI/MACTE Montessori Certification for Infants/Toddlers
  • ELCC Level 2, 3 equivalent or 3 Certification issued by Yukon ELCC
  • Clear RCMP police check (vulnerable sector screening)
  • Doctor’s note stating that the applicant is a good fit to work with children
  • Negative TB results and updated immunization records
  • Valid First Aid and CPR- Level C
  • Bachelor of Education is a strong asset
  • Additional courses or training in education would be advantageous

To be successful in this role the applicant must:

  • Guide and assist children in the Toddler Montessori classroom (ages 0-3)
  • Establish appropriate guidelines for behaviour
  • Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, safety and well-being of children
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers, families and board of Directors
  • Possess strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Implement effective classroom management skills, show a positive attitude and be a team player
  • Demonstrate well-developed interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication

YOUR ROLE

  • Observing, guiding, supervising, and assessing children while they learn in the classroom environment
  • Developing lesson plans, independent learning exercises, curricula, and methods that cater to the needs of the individual child
  • Creating and maintaining a safe, clean, stimulating classroom where all children feel safe and valued
  • Building relationships with children based on trust
  • Setting an excellent example for children and instilling good values in them like honesty, accountability, understanding, tolerance, respect, love, and kindness
  • Monitoring and assessing children’s progress and writing up reports
  • Ensuring classroom supplies and equipment are available and in working condition
  • Updating records of assessment

PRESCHOOL FRENCH ASSISTANT TEACHER

Term: February 28, 2022  – June 18, 2022.

Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00-12:00

Compensation: Dependant on ELCC level ($23.75-$31.50) – Health & Dental benefits after 3 months of employment

Job Overview:

Opportunity to join an excellent team delivering Montessori education for Yukon students.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Lead and support French learning activities for children (age 3-6 years old) in the classroom 
  • Maintain a safe environment for children, and perform first aid if required
  • Provide personal assistance to children for daily activities 
  • Supervise children outside of the school facility at park and on field trips as required
  • Maintain regular communication with parents on the well-being of the children
  • Prepare French materials for use in the classroom

Qualifications & Requirements: 

  • Candidate must have an ELCC level 1 or higher
  • Candidate must have experience leading French language lessons/activities in the classroom

Term: September 2022- June 2023

Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00-3:00

CLASSROOM CLEANER

Term: March 21, 2022 – June 17, 2022

Hours: Monday-Friday 8:30-4:00

Compensation: $22/hour

Job Overview:

YMS is looking to hire a classroom cleaner. This is a fixed term position that will start March 21,2022 and end June 17, 2022. This role requires classroom and material cleaning for 7.50 hours per day Monday to Friday. Previous experience with children will be considered an asset.

Successful applicants will need to submit:

  1. RCMP Vulnerable sector screening (updated)
  2. TB Results/clearance
  3. Medical note confirming that the applicant can work with children
  4. Immunization record
  5. COVID-19 immunization

Staff will be required to wear a face covering while working.
